Boris Skips a Committee Meeting

23 October 2019 - Boris Johnson Question Time

The Chair of the Liaison Select Committee Dr. Sarah Wollaston (Lib-Dems) is astonished that PM Johnson has postponed the third meeting and feels compelled to write him a letter complaining of his absence. She places the letter on twitter. Johnson replies the same day with a hand written letter asking to postpone a further 5 or 6 months which she also posts on twitter. Mr David TC Davies MP (Con) who is also a member of the same Committee writes on her tweet, “As Members of the liaison Committee we are surprised that you have chosen to speak on behalf of the Committee without speaking to its members. Many of us think it is perfectly reasonable of the PM to continue negotiations with the EU at this moment. Given the delays to Brexit which you yourself have supported we do not see what the urgency is.”

The letter Dr. Wollaston sent to Johnson.

David Davis tweets his concern that she is taking action without consulting other members.

Boris Johnson replies.
